Patients receiving dermal filler treatments should avoid taking substances that have blood-thinning effects, such as aspirin, vitamin E supplements, St. John’s wort, ginseng, and Ginkgo Biloba for at least a week before their treatments. Please consult with your personal physician before stopping any medications before treatment.

A dermal filler appointment typically lasts anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. Just before the treatment, the area will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. Your provider will then inject a precise amount of filler strategically beneath the skin to achieve your desired results. 

Some patients may experience mild bruising and swelling. These side effects are temporary and should subside over the days following treatment. You will be able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment, but you may be asked to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity. Your cosmetic nurse injector will provide you with after care instructions to ensure you know what to do post-treatment for optimal results.

Depending on the product and the areas treated, you will notice results immediately after receiving filler injections. Results may last up to 24 months depending on the area treated, product used, and other patient health factors, before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the product..
