Kybella®

Kybella® relies on the active ingredient deoxycholic acid, one of the body’s naturally occurring molecules that facilitates the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected under the chin, Kybella® destroys fat cells, resulting in a visible reduction in fullness. After cells are destroyed, they can no longer accumulate or store fat—so once you’ve achieved your aesthetic goals, no further treatment should be needed.  

In clinical studies, 79% of patients treated with Kybella® reported improved satisfaction with the appearance of their face and chin area 12 weeks after their last treatment.

At your Kybella® treatment appointment, we will start by numbing the area with a topical cream and ice. After marking where fat needs to be reduced or eliminated, our highly-trained cosmetic nurse injectors will perform the injections. Some patients report feeling a warming sensation as the product begins work. Temporary swelling and tenderness may occur after the treatment.

Patients receiving Kybella® treatments should avoid taking substances that have blood-thinning effects, such as aspirin, vitamin E supplements, St. John’s wort, ginseng, and Ginkgo Biloba for at least 1 week before their treatments. Please consult with your personal physician before stopping any medications before treatment.

Kybella® is typically used in a series of two treatments. Results may be noticeable as early as 4 to 6 weeks after your first treatment and will last for years, which means touch-ups should not be needed.
