Dermaplaning is a physical form of exfoliation that uses a surgical scalpel to gently shave the surface of the skin, removing the top layer of dead skin and fine vellus hair. It helps to improve the overall appearance of the skin and the effects of the procedure are instant in leaving your skin with a smooth appearance and a radiant glow.

While it may sound like it is just shaving your face, the benefits are slightly different. Dermaplaning is a safe, effective way to exfoliate the skin. Essentially we are scraping off the top layer of dead skin cells, excess oils and vellus hair or “peach fuzz” with a scalpel especially designed for the task. Your hair will not grow back darker, thicker or any different than it was prior to your dermaplaning treatment.

It is a great supplement to regular at home exfoliating that you may do with a scrub or other manual exfoliator.

It is recommended for all skin types and skin tones. We do recommend that those with inflamed acne wait until their complexion clears up for best results.

After cleansing your skin, our highly-trained medical aesthetic practitioner will use a surgical scalpel to manually exfoliate your face. Small areas of your face will be treated at a time until the entire surface has been exfoliated..

Dermaplaning is a quick and easy procedure that is performed in about 20 minutes, and many of our patients find dermaplaning to be relaxing. We also recommend it paired with additional in-office treatments including HydraFacial, Chemical Peels and Custom Facials.

Immediately after your dermaplaning you may experience a bit of redness, especially if paired with another in-office treatment, but it will not last long. There is no downtime or discomfort associated with dermaplaning and we recommend that it is done every four to six weeks to maintain results. 

Your skin will look brighter and feel smoother after a dermaplaning treatment. You will notice better product absorption and even your makeup will go on smoother. We also recommend that you follow a medical grade skincare regimen, complete with SPF, to maintain your results.
