Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin and scars on the face, neck and hands. They can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures including dermaplaning.

A peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure during which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. Chemical peels are one of the best ways to: 

  • Increase collagen production
  • Decrease pore size
  • Clarify the skin
  • Brighten & tighten the skin

Peels can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from. Your treatment provider will help select the appropriate level of peel for you based on your skin health history and concerns.

Chemical peels are good for most skin types. Generally, fair skinned individuals see the best results from peels. We may recommend that people with darker complexions avoid certain types of peels, as they are more likely to experience uneven skin tone afterward. A consultation will determine whether you are a candidate and which level peel is most appropriate for you.

The skin that grows back after a chemical peel is smoother and younger looking. Each peel treatment will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Depending on the strength of the peel and each individual patient, some may experience tingling or warming feeling of the skin during the treatment and mild redness afterward.

Chemical peels offer little to no downtime and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture and helping with blemish-prone skin. For best results, we recommend peels done in a series of 3 (approximately 4-6 weeks apart).
