What Type of Lip Filler should I get?
There are temporary and permanent lip injections available. And according to Cosmopolitan Style and Beauty, temporary is definitely the way to go. And while permanent and semi-permanent solutions are tempting, they are irreversible and little can be done to fix them if you are dissatisfied with the outcome.
If I do this, how do I prepare for my treatment?
You should definitely get that selfie arm ready! But importantly, avoid blood thinners such as aspirin or ibuprofen, fix oil, Vitamin E, and yes, even alcohol. Temporary halting of these about 10 days prior will help reduce any bruising or bleeding. And anyone with a history of cold sores should be taking their prevention medication at least two days before your lip injections, because a flare up can be triggered.
Natural, Full Lips
At Tondue, we use only the JUVÉDERM® family of fillers. For lips, this usually involves JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA™ XC or JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC. JUVÉDERM® is the worlds #1 dermal filler collection, and is both safe and effective. It is made of a hyaluronic acid gel, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that contributes to both hydration and will add volume. Full, beautiful natural results are usually seen instant with just one treatment, and can typically last up to 12 months.

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions About Lip Filler
At Tondue Medical Spa we use the Juvéderm family, which consists of Juvéderm, Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus, and Juvéderm Volbella. All of these fillers are made from hyaluronic acid but vary in thickness and how they affect the looks of your lips.
Our fillers come mixed with lidocaine (we can get it without if you have an allergy) so the pain level is mild. We will often use a topical anesthetic as well. Once numb, you will feel a slight prick, light pressure and perhaps a little throbbing. Most of our patients report an experience with some small discomfort but nothing extreme at all.
Avoid any blood thinners such as alcohol, aspirin, fish oil and vitamin E for a few days before treatment. This will help for a speedier recovery process and minimize any bruising. Also, if you have a history of cold sores make sure to be taking your medication for 3 days prior to your appointment.
The gym. Actually, avoid any physical activities that could increase blood flow to your face for about 48 hours.
No, in fact there is evidence to the contrary. When a needle punctures the tissue of your skin, it indirectly promotes your own collagen production. So even after the filler dissolves, your lips should actually remain a tiny bit larger.
Yes, all fillers that we use dissolve naturally. And, if for some reason your lips don't turn out, we can inject an eraser enzyme that will break down the particles and accelerate its dissolution.
Lip Injections can range anywhere from $600 - $2,000. Why such a large range? The price depends on the type of filler you get, and how much is needed to accomplish your goals. It's not recommended to participate in "bargain injections" at some discount location. It's not worth the very high risk of infection, reject or distortion. Tondue has a 5 star rating for lips injections and you can be assured of outstanding outcomes.
This is truly a wide range based on numerous factors. How much filler you got, your metabolism, desired plumpness and type of filler used can all affect how long the effects are noticeable. On average our patients re treat every 12-24 months.
