Kybella 101

When it comes to injectable treatments, our clients have the most questions about
Kybella! We’re answering your most commonly asked questions in today’s post:

Q. #1 What is Kybella?

Kybella is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance & profile of moderate to severe fat under the chin (submental fat), otherwise known as a “double chin”. In short, it is an injectable treatment that destroys fat cells.

Q. #2 How does it work?

Kybella is identical to something your body naturally makes, deoxycholic acid, which
helps absorbs fat. We start by doing a consultation with you to determine the best treatment plan. This will include assessing the area in which you will need injections and how many treatments we recommend to reach your goals.

At your actual treatment appointment, we will start by numbing the area with topical
numbing and ice, then mark your chin where fat needs to be destroyed and then, finally, inject.

Q. #3 Does it hurt?

During the treatment you may feel a warming sensation as the product goes to work.
And while some swelling and tenderness may last for some time after the treatment, it is a non-surgical procedure that will not leave you sore for long!

Q. #4 How long does it last?

Kybella results are noticeable as soon as 4-6 weeks and will last for years, which
means touch-ups shouldn’t be needed.

Q. #5 Is it safe?

Yes. Kybella is the ONLY FDA- approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in
the treatment area under the chin. But, of course you should always inform your health care provider on all of the medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements that you take.

Q. #6 Who is a good candidate for Kybella?

If you are bothered by the submental fullness under your chin (commonly referred to as a “double chin”) and it doesn’t go away with weight loss through exercise and healthy diet, then you may be a good candidate for Kybella.
